Performances

Her Majesty's Theatre, London 2012

In October, 27 of our dancers travelled to London to perform in the West End at Her Majesty's Theatre where Phantom of the Opera runs. As part of 'The Young Performers' organisation we were able to take part in a variety dance show. The school performed two different routines. 'Naughty Nautical' a sailor themed dance with lots of props and fun, and a scottish routine 'Scottish Stramash' which consisted of a range of traditional highland and national dances. All of the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the day. The experience to dance on a West End stage was magical! We were extremely lucky to be given three dressing rooms between us - even if this was on the third floor! We performed in London at the same event in 2011 and would love to do this again in 2013....

Disneyland, Paris 2011

In November 2011, 30 of our pupils went to Disneyland Paris and took part in a Highland Dance Scottish Weekend. Despite the weather being a bit cold all of the dancers still managed to have fun! The school were selected to perform a 30 minute slot on the stage of the Lion King at the start of the weekend. To dance among Pride Rock was an experience I'm sure not many of the dancers thought they would have when the first enrolled at The Jessiman Dance School! The dancers then had a second ten minute slot where they performed specially choreographed routines for the event. However, the highlight of the weekend was taking part in the parade through the Magic Kingdom with over 200 hundred other highland dancers. Although this felt like a marathon for the dancers to hop continuously all the way through the park for 30 minutes, the adrenaline kept them all going right to the very end!

Various Local Performances

Throughout the year the school often take part in local concerts, events and coffee mornings. We have also held our own events to raise funds for costumes. This year we performed at the Shamrock Shindig, Scott's Hospital Jubilee weekend, the Hudergan weekend in Keith, Rhynie Gala, Huntly Mart, the Stewarts Hall Summer Ceilidhs and the Jessiman Dance Schools Coffee Morning. We have our Mince Pie afternoon tea at the Stewarts Hall to look forward to during the run up to Christmas.
